ALBERTA?S SMALL BUSINESS CONFIDENCE

It is fact they are top in the country.
But I prefer we are the one to have greater confidence.
2005 is our chance.
Let?s do it.

MILITARY JOINTED EXERCISE BY CHINA AND RUSSIA IN AUGUST AND 10 YEARS’s DEFENCE TREATY BY US AND INDIA

Tough is the word for Canada.
To keep peace is our best interest.
So our voice needs to be heard.
Can Martin speak up in G8 meeting?
Seems tailor made for him.

WHY EMERSON CARES ABOUT CHINA TOURISTS

It is simple.
Numbers don?t lie.
How about 111 million outbound tourists visited other countries so far.
And last year alone, they numbered 28,850,000.
BC can use China?s tourist spending here to pay off our debts like Alberta did.
Fact is we are still $ 34 billions in debt.

EMMERSON?S CHINA VISIT

The key to successful visit is trade off.
We want tourists, but what can we offer.
China is energy hungry, but Canada has negative US factor.
Maybe some creative forest industry and beef market arrangements can make a difference here.
And to see the right people is vital.
Hope a good strategic thinking person is helping him now.

MINORITY GOVERNMENT, BALANCE OF POWER, AND MIDDLE OF THE ROAD

Business community is crying murder on BIG BOX decision by Vancouver city councils.
This reminds us of 77 to 2 provincially of yesterday and 8 to 1 in Burnaby now.
Experts start wondering if Martin?s minority government actually will produce more people wanted legislation as gay marriage for charter human right.
Privatizing for efficiency or government control to preserve fairness has been hard choice for voters.
Maybe it doesn?t have to be.
Remember the saying about ?absolute power and absolute corruption?.
A middle of the road and power balanced minority government can be the best today.
Burnaby can use a 4-4-1 or 3-3-2-1 situation.

CAMPBELL OF VANCOUVER IS VISITING TAIWAN TODAY

Mayor Campbell after announcing his ?no? on re-election can really enjoy this trip.
Both cities on his visiting list will face mayor election at end of the year.
Interesting enough, each city is controlled by different party.
Taipei mayor is at term limit and is aiming at presidency.
People like to see if his replacement can be observed at Campbell?s visit.
Kaohsiung is by acting mayor appointed by central government due to elected mayor was promoted to Premier.
Taiwan?s press coverage will be interesting.
His special adviser on the trip can be a split CUPE council candidate

WE ARE NOT READY FOR 2010 YET

Airport security shutdown and ferry crash are timely warning.
Both need serious accountability.
Airport has 19 million passengers per year responsibility.
And ferry is freshly back from maintenance.
Human chain of command is breaking somewhere.
We need to be serious.
The whole Great Vancouver Area is involved here.
We are a total package.
Burnaby can not excluding self and say we are not involved.
Luckily we have two city elections before 2010.
Right choice in city hall will help.

BURNABY CHINESE ALLIANCE

2002 Burnaby had near 100,000 registered voters of 192,000 residences.
Chinese by last name had 45,000.
Political groups wondered out loud.
Why Chinese don?t vote.
To drive out votes in Chinese communities is a top priority if Chinese wants to be seriously taking as Canadian.
Alliance will not be the tool of any party.
It just must be done.
The movement is on.
Act now.

WHAT?S UP IN ASIA PACIFIC

NewsWeek Asia is going to have two big CEO Forums in China.
One will be in Oct.13 at Chongqing , the new super city with 63,900 new business outlets.
And the other will be in Nov.15-16 at Beijing, the city with 1.4 million new cars.
The two cities are focus of latest Time magazine.
Also C.K.Prahalad is touring Southeast Asia with big speaking engagements.
He is Professor of Michigan U and one of world top 50 thinkers in living management.
India government has high regard of him.
To attend the meeting will help to see certain direction of immediate future of India.
Taiwan is having Taipei Forum with topic ?Common Market between Strait? in early August.
The forum has China?s official implication.
It is worth observing.
BC, if truly wanting to be a serious Pacific Rim member, must pay special attention to those events and their consequences.
And my beloved Jones Cup is in Taipei from July 16 to 31.
Hope I am not the only one to see what is going on.
