WHO IS HURTING BY THE STRIKE

Who else but business people.
24 millions dollars per day is the cost.
We, the consumers, will pay the difference later
Is this a preview of 2010 Olympic?
The damage of holding back then will be huge..
The cost and consequences will break BC.
We can?t afford to make habit of it.
On individual level, I am taking it personally too.
My oversea magazines are not here.
It saves me on expense but shorts me on information..
What surprises me is government is not visible either.
Is this a summer vacation effect?
Hope not.
And this is definitely not good for future Asia Pacific investment.
People with any business sense will stay away.
Ministers, step in now to earn your pay and be responsible to our votes.
The norm of past no longer fits in for today and future.
Let us all be responsible please.

CASINO IS EARNING LESS IN VANCOUVER

That is why Burnaby is raising the tax.
Our casino is not improving on competitive edge.
City income from that may decrease just like Vancouver.
So Richmond will go sky high.
Wonder if business friendly can be a reason.

BALANCE BETWEEN AWARDING THE BRAVES AND PROTECTING THE WEAK

The worst is to create a new special elite only good at asking more and producing less.
How often we wonder why 6 to 9 people are doing 3 people?s job.
If not ignorant, we know that is a waste.

CANADA AND TERRORIST

Government is telling us that at least 50 such organizations are currently active in our country.
But I can see government?s true concern is Toronto.
So how safe is BC is real up to ourselves.
One thing is for sure that recent ferry incidents confirm that we are not.
And our Olympic people avoid the issue is another interesting situation.
The only official message in the open is to report all abnormal activities to authority.
But the fact is our authority has a record not paying much attention to people?s reporting before.
I went through one in 2002 by asking building manager to report strange people casing our building.
Official response was don?t bother if there is no crime.
Some building residences even commented that we are not a police state here.
What more can you ask in space and tolerance for bad people.

WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM INDIA?S OUTSOURCING

INFOSYS is having 60% growth and 70% pure profit.
They take in 2,000 cases annually and recently hired 5,000 new staffs out of 1.2 millions applicants.
They offer 25 steps of full package service from research development to final marketing.
But they never touch STRATEGY and BRANDING.
Our forestry can copy the whole concept here.
But we have to build our market sensitiveness first and learn to work as a team.
2010 give us a link to China?s 2008.
Let us see how far can we go by willing to dominate all wood product needs there.
A bigger dream is needed by our BC paid staffs both here and in China.

TWO EXTREMES OF LONDON

Joy is for the right to host 2012 Olympics and shock for native citizen to be the terrorist bomber.
This reflects the reality of many faces of today?s world.
Olympic trophy indicates the polished British know-how in today?s international affairs.
The bombing makes us aware of how divided the cultures are even in such sophisticated community.
That is a lesson we can not take lightly in Great Vancouver.
Specially, many our citizens still feel indifferent about Air India?s tragedy.

IS BURNABY EVOLVING WITH CHANGING TIMES?

So many new faces are in town.
Naturally there are new mentalities as well as new realities.
Yet, is the city has the full grasp on them?
I don?t think so.
It is ironic that government officials now asking people to report all unusual activities.
But in 2002, I spotted some people in organized manner to check out my apartment building.
I told manager and he informed police.
I felt duty fulfilled and traveled to Asia as had planned with peace of mind.
My son called me few days later informing me the break-in, and that happened before 3pm.
As I found out later, there were 10 break-ins in our building same week.
And manager later told me that police didn?t think much of our report and made fun of him in a way.
My point is simple.
What is the incentive to be a good citizen here.
How would I ever want to be alert and responsive again.
Maybe I still will, but fat chance if others feel the same.

TRUE HATE AND GREAT PRETENDER

These are two things very common and true in politicians.
We have a perfect example in President Bush.
He truly hates terrorists and appears the best in morality.
Hate is a powerful force and usually produces destruction as a result.
9/11 united US and produced Bush presidency second.
Iraq war costs 1,700 US lives and no end is in sight.
I don?t like Gordon Campbell, but I will not vote for the guy against him by hate.
Nor will I vote for moral pretender.

OLYMPIC?S DEBT

Within days, we will know who will host 2012 Olympic.
All key players are in Singapore now to make the final push.
But it is alarming to read how 5 cities specially and pointedly citing how best they will avoid the financial after mess.
Reason is simple.
Now Athens has to pay $ 100 millions a year to maintain the facilities without usage after the Game.
People in Quebec still paying 17 cents per cigarettes today for 1976?s construction.
I am all for 2010, but how not to leave a mess for next generation is my self-claimed responsibility.
Accountability in government with transparency is a must.

OPERATION INDIA

Smart businessman is again a step ahead of government.
5 webs are set up now to attract BC people for cheap and fast medical operation in India.
My concern is safety and accountability.
That ought to be government?s top priority too.
It is time for our government staffs in India to earn their pay.
Reputable professionals? verification and Indian government?s monitoring will be the key to safeguard Canadian lives.
