The key word is.
That “is” 400 BC jobs.
Union leader bluntly declared.

That is entitlement mentality.
It is bullying in civilized eyes.
And it is live on TV.

VAN SATURDAY 11/17/2012

Back from Taipei on 11/4, it is 14 days now.
I miss the hot weather there in last few days at 30 C.
And - 2 C here for 2 days really showed the difference.

Big things happened in short time.
Obama got re-elected.
China has new slot of leaders.

Harper made India trip.
Energy deal is up front.
But there is that nuclear one not very clear to public.

Japan is dissolving the Parliament.
New election is next month.
Another power transition goes on.

Obama is going to Asia.
The 3 days trip is ASEAN counties.
Burma stands out and that very indicative in every ways.

Israel and Hamas is top news.
The hate issue is clear.
But there is no solution in sight.

It is said.
When in crisis, there is opportunity.
Let’s hope there will be one soon.

That goes with US “fiscal cliff” too.
But Obama’s tough stand on rich may not help.
Can he really learn from Lincoln?

The Lincoln movie is out.
All talks are his use of talents passing party line.
Can Obama take the hint?

Canada government cut jobs.
That is at 10,080.
Mainly they are border service, food inspection and veteran affairs.

Shockingly they are all outside of Ottawa.
And food inspection worries many.
Military will make noises.

And it was predicted.
Bond bubble eventually will pop.
Banking industry will downsize 160,000 jobs.

And we need to remind many of rules of civil society.
Many new comers seem ignoring them.
Government didn’t do a good job to train them before came.

He became a kinder and gentle person.
That was likable and made him a winner in last election.
And he brought his party to a new height.

To country like Canada, it was like a miracle.
That was to fight party image to win the young.
They came out to vote and started new acceptance.

That I know.
I learned the hard way as new immigrant.
And to make impression in politics is the hardest.

He is not known in Taipei.
But the words he left are timely here.
Politics can be universal after all.

Love is better than anger.
Hope is better than fear.
Optimism is better then despairs.

Taipei need love but hate plenty.
Anger is killing hope and increase fear of each others.
Absence of optimism is making despairs into desperation.

Yes, Majority offers 4 years’ full power.
But how best to use it is a “test”.
How to avoid absolute power ending in corruption is a must.

NDP will all psych up.
Rookie’s orientation determines.
Action will speak for itself.

But both parties must play with balance and inclusive game.
There is a good observing spot.
May can be the best for focus.

And occasional courtesy to the Liberals will be even better.
All will show.
Absolute power didn’t corrupt.

Never thought I got to see this.
But that was “service”.
And indeed he was friendly and made me proud.

My passport will end in August.
6 months extra time is needed if going any where.
Apply now is a must.

I tried Burnaby Canada Service first.
And they moved.
That cost me Parking fee for nothing.

The new office looks nice.
And the lady was friendly.
But it will take 4 to 6 weeks to process.

Downtown Vancouver then became the best choice.
And it has been years since I last went downtown.
That made it refreshing and interesting.

Thought it would take a long time.
And 5 years ago I had bad memory.
But third time is a charm.

But an Asian lady was removed by security.
And I think she asked for it.
She was doing heck a nagging job.

Human right got to many heads.
Law and order then ignored.
Sadly many new comers insist it their right.

I was ready to pay extra $10 for faster return.
But the guy told me to save the buck.
It will be done by registered mail by 20th either way.

That thoughtfulness was rare.
I had to appreciate it.
At ground main desk, I made sure to tell them so.

I was pretty angry with passport photo the day before.
Sign says $7.99 but I was charged $10.01.
When asked, then it was same day service charge.

The whole set up was computer instant process.
And no one said otherwise.
That was a crooked operation.

I am reading a reputable Taiwan business magazine.
The editor pointed out.
Taiwan local government service is the best.

They do come to pick-up if you don’t have the time.
And they will return it when done the same day.
That is unheard of in government service.

And they can work like fast food drive-in.
There is no parking needed.
Complicated marriage documentation is only 20 minutes.

They also can help you to locate long lost relatives.
That I saw last year in person.
Computer and hard work can do wonder.

BC will see provincial and municipal election this year.
Some services can use big improvement.
Let’s wait and see.

It is done deal and one to remember.
Major changes are here with 76 women and youngest MP at 19.
Two parties are out and two rising.

Harper gets his majority at 166 seats from 144.
“Check and balance” is a concern to many now.
After all, that is “technical knock-out” by 40% votes.

NDP gets 104 seats from 37.
That is a strong Opposition for Layton in “look”.
He can do nothing when facing Harper’s will but objection.

That is political reality.
Majority is the next best to absolute power.
Harper’s fast response says “winning trust” interesting.

Press is wishing.
Let’s work for the good of all Canadians.
Stability and consistency are pointed out.

Liberal is done with only 34 from past 77.
Ignatieff is graceful but reality cruel.
Examples are plenty in history.

Bloc gets the worst with only 3 from 48.
Many are glad to see a more united Canada.
May be we are.

The brightest spot is the “one and only” Green.
She worked hard to drive out 72% of votes.
And nationally it is only 61% from past 59%.

Total control comes from 40% of total votes is legal but never truly fair.
And 39% of people didn’t vote.
Harper has 60% voted not for him.

So, the system is not ideal.
40% in control is wrong.
That is “cunning” taking over “honor” and “trust”.

$13-billion surplus turned to $56-billion deficit is not good management.
Contempt of Parliament is never democratic.
That is definitely not law and order.

Chretien still is good.
The experience and accumulated wisdom shows.
But too bad he is not running.
And he did end in disgrace for party corruption.

But he reminds us of Canadian values.
And Liberal was good with our economy.
Harper can’t take credit on that.
And NDP is still weak.

Ignatieff finally showed passion and common sense.
But it is late.
And the guy they put in my riding is a negative.
Liberal with him is no future.

It is election time in Canada.
We saw leaders’ debate on TV.
Near 4 millions watched.
Sadly no vision or spark was visible.

Yes, they are more seasoned and skill obvious.
But there was no inspiration only jabbing.
Grace and sincerity were missing totally.
Is that the best our politics can be?

We live in a very special time.
The world we knew is changing drastically.
Direction or purpose is at loss today.
All are waiting in leadership even sarcastically.

It is time leader or leaders standing up to the challenge.
Vision and direction are a must.
People have high expectation.
Canada has to make a difference at this special time.

People want to know who we are.
And what we can do to be meaningful.
We need to position ourselves properly.
It is time to re-define Canada identity.

USA is no longer the super power of past.
Cash crunch and financial broken define the state.
And China is cash rich.
They are having US by the throat.

Yes, G-2 is real.
But China is too green in managing world responsibility.
Yet new world order can’t wait.
This void must be filled now.

When in crisis, there is opportunity.
It is up to the wiser to take up the opportunity.
Canada can be the vital link.
Our leaders have to recognize that.

By nature, Canada never was aggressive.
Peace is some thing we are good at.
And fighting is not in our blood.
Opportunity will be ours for such a role.

Canada never was or will be a super power material.
We don’t have the “fight” in our gene.
That makes us the best to make a difference at world peace and balance.
But our leaders showed us none.

Harper is steady at best.
But heart and passion were missing.
Trust is the key for him to lead.
He simply and constantly reminds us hidden agenda.

Ogi could use more sincerity.
Attacking is not him.
Failed to show managing skill of Liberal financial past was a mistake.
He has to show Liberal still capable to run a country.

Layton is seasoned and more likable.
But he is too deep in his root.
He won many Asians’ hearts but fail to show worldly quality.
That is not enough for Canada today.

Generation young or old is looking for leadership quality.
All like to see someone to show us who we are and what we can be.
He must display vision and ambition here.
They failed even in compassion.

Canada can never be militarily ready.
And we have two strongest military powers as neighbors.
Russian and American both have their own national interest.
Keeping peace is our best interest protection.

Swiss model can be a good case study.
Confrontation will never serve Canada.
That old Liberal skill in worldly affairs is badly needed today.
Harper’s Bush hardhead is the worst for Canada survival.

It is sad handlers were running the show.
Leaders filled in as actors.
Canada can do without that.
We deserve better.

I finally get it.
The story is a telling tale and shocking.
He kicked out a girl in his rally.
Her “crime” was.
She posted picture with other party leader.

Yes, there are lot opportunists around.
They love playing both sides.
But is there law against it?
Canada is a free country.
She has right to play out her vanity.

But national leader must have bigger heart.
The action itself is too small minded.
Little thing is a perfect reflection of mind and heart.
There is a sense of absolute power here.
And it has no room for tolerance.

Not that he is Hitler.
But one can’t help but to think of Jew bias.
Majority can make absolute power an easy next step.
Keep him at minority can be wise.
Or even “change” may be desirable to some.

It appears we know the price of F-35.
But we now wonder if the price correct.
Experts are saying to the press.
Real price will be 2 times higher.
If that is true, then what is going on?
What is the government up to?

Military is the same all over the world.
They love big budget and better toys.
But they never tell us.
How badly do we really need them?
Frankly, Canada has only north and south to worry.
They are Russian and US.

Let’s be honest.
Both are too strong in people and fire arm.
It is unthinkable.
That is for Canada to take on any of them militarily.
There is never enough money in Canada.
That is to even up to compete.

And the best and the hardest in military is the training of people.
Do we train ours well?
If not, then money will be a total waste.
And why is the hurry?
We can’t help but to think.
Can it be another hidden agenda?
